The season is rolling and it's time to level up your game knowledge! Whether you're just starting out or you've been playing for years, there's always something new to learn — and that's what makes netball so great. This week we're covering one of the most important rules on court, a top tip for our Little Saints, and a closer look at how umpires keep the game fair and fun.
Ready? Let's go! 💪
Fun Fact of the Week - 7 Positions, One Team
Netball is a game of teamwork built on structure — and it all starts with the seven positions on court. From Goal Shooter to Goal Keeper, every role has a specific purpose and court zone.
Understanding each position helps players appreciate how the team works together as a unit, making every Saints player — no matter where they stand — an essential piece of the puzzle.
Rule of the Week - Offside
One of netball's core rules, offside keeps the game structured, fair, and flowing. Every position has designated areas of the court they're allowed to play in, and stepping outside those zones — even when landing after a jump — results in a penalty.
Knowing your area isn't just about avoiding infringements; it's about moving with confidence and intention. Know your zone, and you'll always be in the right place at the right time.
NetSetGO Tip - Find the Space
For our Little Saints just starting their netball journey, this week's focus is all about court awareness.
Rather than chasing the ball, young players are encouraged to look up, move to open space, signal to their teammates, and be ready to receive and pass.
These simple habits build the instincts that carry players through every level of the game.
Umpire's Corner - Advantage
Not every infringement stops play — and that's by design. The advantage rule allows the game to keep moving when the non-offending team still has possession or gains the upper hand. When an umpire calls "ADVANTAGE," it's a sign to keep playing with confidence. It's also a reminder that fair play and trusting the umpire's judgement are at the heart of the Saints spirit.
Go Saints!
Another week, another chance to get out there and show what Saints is all about! Whether it's your first game or your fiftieth, every time you step on that court you're representing something special — your team, your club, and the Saints spirit.
Cheer loud for your teammates, give everything you've got, and remember — the best players aren't just skilled, they're kind, they're encouraging, and they never stop learning. That's what makes a true Saint. Now go out there and make us proud!
